ARTISTIC DIRECTOR IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM

Abibigromma Theatre Company (National Theatre of Ghana)

The Artistic Director in Residence (ADIR) will be selected through an application process and serve upon approval by the National Theatre Board of Directors.

The Director in Residence may submit a script for approval or select a script for approval by the executive director of the National Theatre. He/she must be willing to work collaboratively with the Technical Director and the Artistic directors for of the Resident companies.  The ADIR will be required to submit a Production and Promotional Plan to the Programs Committee of the Board.

Terms of Reference

The Director in Residence will be required to develop or select a script approved by the National Theatre of Ghana to rehearse with the National Drama Company for a staged performance that will be included in the Company’s repertoire.

 

Responsibilities of the Director in Residence:

• Cast production with a fair and independent mind,
• Craft a rehearsal schedule,
• Manage cast and crew member from rehearsals to performing successful show and striking the set,
• Provide a detailed plan for the production from audition to production
• Work with the officer in charge and the accountant to create a budget for the production
• Manage all members of the production team and ensure a safe working environment
• Market and promote the production from pre to post
• Rehearse and present other productions in the company repertoire in collaboration with the stage manager, as and when needed.
• Share contracts with additional artists and crew with the National Theatre

Other:

ADIR will work with the Technical Director on all technical aspects of the production including providing a lighting plot, set construction and costume and make up need of the production.

ADIR will work with the communications department by accommodating the needs of the department in its public relations and marketing efforts.

 

 

Requirements

Proven track record or a minimum qualification of Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts (theatre option).

Proven record of directing performing arts programs, content and people

 

Duration

Maximum of three (3) months and not renewable.

 

Terms of Payment: The amount and terms of payment will be negotiated
